About The Scholarship

Launched in 2015, the Deakin Vice Chancellor’s Meritorious Scholarship offers four scholarships with 100% tuition fee waiver to student for pursuing studies at Deakin University, Australia. Each year, 4 full scholarships are offered to shortlisted meritorious students who can pursue their choice of course either at Undergraduate or Postgraduate level in any of the Deakin campuses in Australia.

Since then, 19 students have received the scholarship and are pursuing their studies at Deakin University in Australia. In 2018, over 1000 relevant applicants from across India applied for the scholarships programme.

2019 Deakin Vice Chancellor’s Meritorious Scholarship will be in association with Times Network. The scholarship selection and process will be aired on Times Now. The final 8 students would be invited for an in-studio round with esteemed panellist.

Also, three of these scholarships have been announced in partnership with key Indian organisations for thematic areas - STEM, Sports and Creative Arts.

The full scholarship for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) is being instituted in association with Biocon, India’s largest biopharmaceutical industry. The Sports Scholarship is being offered in collaboration with IPL team Rajasthan Royals. A Creative Arts Scholarship will be awarded in collaboration with the Times Network. The forth one will be for any of the subjects across undergraduate and postgraduate disciplines available at Deakin.

Eligibility

The scholarship is open to all students residing in India who meet the minimum eligibility requirement.

For Postgraduate Studies

  • More than 80% in undergraduate degree
  • Completed the course within the stipulated time frame with significant achievements in co-curricular activities

For Undergraduate studies

  • More than 85% or equivalent in the 12th Indian Board Examinations/ IB/ GCSE
  • Significant achievements in co-curricular activities.

Other Requirements

  • Minimum English language capability as per requirements for the course/ area of study at Deakin University.
  • Demonstration of commitment to give back to society, the knowledge and experience.
